25 more people have died from Covid-19.

Ireland has suffered a further 25 deaths as a result of Covid-19, according to the latest figures released by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre and the NPHET.

The latest figures put the Republic of Ireland’s death toll for the virus at 1,286. Validation of data at the HPSC has resulted in the “denotification” of 4 deaths in the past 24 hours and the figure of 1,286 deaths reflects this.

Additionally, 343 new cases of the virus have been confirmed to the HPSC as of 11am this morning (2 May). There is now a total of 21,176 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

5,973 (over 28%) of the cases are associated with healthcare workers. Exactly half of all cases are in Dublin.

In a statement issued this evening, the NPHET has said that “The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.”
