There are currently 23 patients in intensive care with the virus.

There have been 283 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Ireland.

The figures released from the Department of Health on Tuesday did not contain information regarding deaths related to Covid-19.

The Department of Health’s statement said that the number of daily cases may also change due to future data validation.

60 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 23 are in ICU.

Meanwhile, more than 400,000 people who are waiting for a second dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in Ireland have been told the “vaccine bonus” does not permit them to travel abroad.

Currently, people who have received a vaccine can avail of the ‘vaccine bonus’ from 28 days after their first dose but this does not allow for international travel if your first dose was an AstraZeneca vaccine.

People in their 60s and vulnerable groups have been waiting on a second jab, which could come between eight to 12 weeks from their first vaccine dose.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) has not specified the same restrictions on travel for people who received one dose of other vaccine brands.
