38 further deaths and 1,068 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland

158 people are currently in ICU due to Covid-19.

38 more people have died from Covid-19 in Ireland and 1,068 new cases have been confirmed by the Department of Health.

It brings the total number of deaths in Ireland to 444 and the total number of confirmed cases to 12,547.

The median age of today’s reported deaths was 84.

29 of the deaths occurred in the east, 6 in the west, 3 in the south of the country.

657 of the new cases came from Irish labs while 411 of the new cases were recorded in labs in Germany and is the highest daily total of confirmed cases.

285 people have been admitted to intensive care units in total so far. 158 of those remain in ICU, 84 people have been discharged and sadly, 43 of those admitted to ICU have died.

According to figures released on Wednesday, six more people died in the last 24 hours in Northern Ireland.
