Nothing beats a bit of good news.

The owners behind Liffey Valley Shopping Centre have just announced their intention to commence works on a €26 million extension on the existing site.

According to reports, the new build (10,500 sq. m.) will see the floor area of the centre increase by over 16% and will include the provision of a new Penneys store, six restaurants totalling 3,444 sq. m. over three floors and a new 3,300 sq. m. civic space.

A new Western End façade will be constructed (see above) and reconfigurations will be made to the existing VUE Cinema.

There’s some even better news, as the project is expected to create up to 225 construction employment opportunities during the development phase and approximately 450 full and part-time jobs upon completion.

With the new extension in place, the total number of people employed within the centre will rise to over 2,500.
