Five further Covid-19 deaths, 248 new cases

The most recent figures have been released.

Five further Covid-19 deaths have sadly been reported, as well as 248 new cases.

There has now been a total of 1,802 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland, as well as 34,560 confirmed cases since the beginning of the outbreak.

67% of today’s cases are people under 45 years of age.

104 of today’s cases are in Dublin, with 37 in Donegal, 36 in Cork, eight in Kildare, eight in Westmeath, six in Kilkenny, six in Laois, six in Offaly, five in Longford, five in Monaghan, five in Wexford.

The remaining 22 cases are spread across 11 other counties.

36% of the cases are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case, while 36 cases have been identified as community transmission.

Earlier on Saturday, it was reported that Northern Ireland has seen 319 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed on Saturday, its record daily total of new cases, out of 5,026 tests.
