ESB hope to have restored power to all homes today.

The worst of Storm Rachel has passed over Ireland at this stage, but some homes are still feeling the effects after the country was battered by high winds and rain on Wednesday night.

ESB say that approximately 400-500 customers in the North West of the country did not have their power restored last night but they hope to have rectified throughout the course of today.

At one stage, as many as 17,000 homes and businesses were left without power due to the damage caused by winds of 130km/h on Wednesday night, with the west and north west of the country the worst affected.

ESB customers can check the ESB website and Twitter account for updates.
