61-year-old woman in critical condition following shooting in Derry

A 61-year-old woman is said to be in critical condition following a shooting in county Derry.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the shooting, which occurred in Coleraine on Monday night (5 October).

Shortly before midnight, a number of shots were fired at the front of a property on the Bushmills Road and a 61-year-old woman inside the house was struck.

She was taken to hospital, where her condition on Tuesday morning was described by the PSNI as critical.

Detectives in Coleraine are working to establish a motive for this attack and to identify those responsible.
