Gardaí discovered the body of the woman in a house in Kilkenny on Wednesday evening.

A man is being detained at Kilkenny Garda Station in relation to the unexplained death of a woman in her 70s in Kilkenny city. Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman after her body was discovered in a house in Kilkenny city on Wednesday evening (25 March). The scene is currently preserved and as of 11pm on Wednesday, the body of the woman remained at the scene. A male was subsequently detained in Kilkenny Garda Station in connection with the incident. An Garda Síochána said it would be making no further comment on the incident at this time.
