Two men arrested on Ryanair flight to Dublin on suspicion of making threats to endanger an aircraft

A flight from Krakow to Dublin was diverted to Stansted on Monday evening.

Two men have been arrested after a Ryanair flight from Krakow to Dublin had to be diverted to Stansted on Monday evening. According to Essex Police, the two men, aged 47 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of making threats to endanger an aircraft and are currently in custody. On Monday evening, Essex Police reported that the flight had been diverted to Stansted due to reports of a security alert. A note was discovered in a toilet claiming there were explosives on board the aircraft, which prompted the plane to be escorted to Stansted by two RAF jets. The plane landed in Stansted at approximately 6.40pm. Following investigations on the plane, Essex Police confirmed on Tuesday morning that nothing suspicious had been found on board. https://twitter.com/EssexPoliceUK/status/1282898329781841920 In a statement on Monday evening, Ryanair said: ”A Ryanair flight from Krakow to Dublin this evening (13 July) discovered a note in one of the toilets that involved a potential security threat on board. “The captain followed procedure by alerting the UK authorities and diverted to the nearest airport (Stansted) where the plane landed normally, but was taxied to a remote stand where passengers disembarked safely. “The aircraft and passengers are being checked by the UK police who will decide when they may travel onwards to Dublin on a spare aircraft. Passengers in Dublin waiting to depart to Krakow are being transferred to a spare aircraft to minimise any delay to their flight. “Ryanair apologises sincerely for the delay and inconvenience caused to those affected by this diversion.”
