A bill to legalise medicinal cannabis has been tabled in the Dáil

What do you think of this?

Anti-Austerity Alliance/ People Before Profit TD Bríd Smith has introduced a bill in the Dáil which would see cannabis being legalised for medicinal use.

According to RTÉ, she said there is a demand for cannabis among people who are affected by serious illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy.

The Dublin South Central TD also argued that it can alleviate pain from those who suffer from cancer.

"Really what we are trying to do is to facilitate the use of cannabis and cannabis related products for medicinal purposes," Ms Smith said.

"These would be the ones that are already experimented on and would clearly have to be subscribed by a medical practitioner, particularly by a consultant."

Any such distributers would be licensed according to Ms Smith and there would be restrictions in place on those holding it, selling it and it would require a prescription to be taken.

The bill is to be debated at a later stage at a Private Members' time, but what do you think of these proposals?
