A cold winter ahead but some good news for the weekend weather

Rosanna Cooney

We’ll take what we can get.

Autumn is in its final stride and soon the morning turmoil over whether to bring your winter coat or not won’t be an issue for consideration. Take it. Always take it.

For now however the leaves are crunchy, the mornings are fresh and there’s still enough light not to feel like a mole person.

‘The winter is coming’ jokes are all too heavy on the ground at the moment but there’s still good times ahead. The rest of today will be dry and there should be some zesty sunshine breaking through during the day in all provinces. Met Éireann is forecasting winds changing from all directions, so best not to make any faces.

Friday is going to be dry across the country according to Met Éireann with some cloud and some sun and some breezy winds, temperatures are still in their teens with highs of 13 degrees.

The weekend is cruising in on Saturday with some more sunny spates and a few clouds to gaze at. There’s some stronger winds gathering in the day so it might be an afternoon for kite flying and windy sports.

Sunday is keeping the sun in the west and north but seasonal mists and mellow drizzle will be coming to the east and south coasts but it will still be fresh and brightish  around the country.

All too soon a weekend of reasonable sunny optimism will be unheard of so take it, take it.
