This is a bit of a stretch…
While it has been credited with extending the career of everyone from Ryan Giggs to Roy Keane, it seems yoga and a few other non conventional therapies have been given the thumbs down by a Donegal priest.
According to a report in the Donegal News, Fr Padraig O’Baoill, the parish priest in Gaoth Dobhair, has asked his parishioners to refrain from various activities in his newsletter.
“As followers of Jesus Christ we should not partake in deeds that go against our religion. Accordingly, you should do not take part in yoga, thai chai [sic] or reiki. “Do not put your soul in jeopardy for the sake of these contemptible things.”
We’re not sure how these this will pan out but if we owned a shop selling candles, lycra body stocking and yoga mats in the Donegal area, we’d be getting a little concerned.
