Batten down the hatches.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for the entire country.

Issued on Tuesday afternoon, the warning will be valid from 9pm on Wednesday until midnight the following day.

It is said that all of Ireland will be extremely windy, with severe gusts likely and the risk of some disruption.

Due to the combination of storm surge, spring tides and onshore winds there is a potential risk of coastal flooding.

Good stuff.

And while we’re at it, a second weather warning was issued for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

The warning was issued by the Met Office who said that strong winds will cause some travel and power supply disruption.

The strong winds are expected to result in unsafe conditions and some disruption, especially over high ground, lakes and sea areas.

While it’s supposed to be fairly grim for the rest of the week, Met Éireann said that things are supposed to become a bit nicer over the weekend, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.

We’ll take it…
