Absolutely brilliant graffiti on a Stop sign in Tipperary

We don’t necessarily condone graffiti on road signs or anything, but we got a right good laugh out of this Stop sign from Tipperary.

We don’t necessarily condone graffiti on road signs or anything, but we got a right good laugh out of this Stop sign from Tipperary.

We haven’t done any extensive research on the topic or anything, but we reckon that Irish people use the word ‘stop’ in general conversation more than any country in the world, often preceding the word with ‘Ara’ or putting a h in front of the s to make ‘shtop’ if you happen to hail from the west.

It is for that reason that Stop signs in Ireland are more likely to be decorated with graffiti more than anywhere else and we particularly liked this effort from Carrick On Suir in Tipperary.

Sure it’s not the tidiest writing in the world but the sentiment still shines through. It is also likely to be more effective than most stop signs because, like JOE reader Daniel Mulroy did this morning, most passers-by will probably stop to take a picture, or just to have a good laugh at this brilliant example of Tipperary and Irish wit.

Hat-tip to Daniel Mulroy for sending this one into us
