From Dusk Till Dawn and Con Air star Danny Trejo came to the rescue of a child trapped in an overturned vehicle in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The actor intervened after witnessing two vehicles crash, causing one to rollover. The overturned vehicle was sitting on its roof and had a baby strapped into a car seat inside.

The incident occurred just after after 3 pm local time.

Trejo said that he tried crawling in through a broken window but couldn’t get the seat belt unhooked. With the help of another bystander, they were able to free the child.

“The only thing that saved the little kid was his car seat,” Trejo said.

The actor said that he has worked with special needs children before so he knew how to keep the little boy calm.

“He was panicked. I said, ‘OK we have to use our superpowers’. So he screamed ‘superpowers’ and we started yelling ‘superpowers’. I said do this, with the muscles. He said ‘muscles’. We got kind of a bond. I kept facing him away from the accident.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department told ABC that three people were taken to hospital as a result of the incident but that their injuries were not life-threatening.

“Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else. Everything,” said the Machete star.

The LAPD is conducting an investigation on the crash.

Here’s what Trejo had to say about the incident.
