Interviewing Tubridy, he asked: “Now that I’ve taken over your job, have you thought of a new career yet?”

Toy show favourite Adam King replaced Ryan Tubridy as host for part of Friday’s Late Late Show and proved to be a natural in the gig.

The segment saw a role reversal, whereby the youngster was the interviewer and Tubridy was the interviewee.

“Welcome back to the Late Late Show ladies and gentlemen. My next guest is from Dublin. Welcome Ryan Tubridy,” Adam declared.

Part of Adam’s grilling included asking Tubridy various questions about his history hosting the iconic Late Late Toy Show.

He also called on Tubridy to give the public a hint on this year’s Toy Show theme but the latter remained tight-lipped on the details.

This was before Adam asked: “Now that I’ve taken over your job, have you thought of a new career yet?”

Clearly impressed with the youngster’s hosting abilities, Tubridy dubbed him “the Michael Parkinson of his generation”.

Adam and his dad David King appeared on the programme to promote David’s new book A Hug for You, which is available online and in book shops now and is inspired by his son’s famous “virtual hug”.

The pair also revealed that Adam will star in a Christmas special of his in-development cartoon Adam <3 Adventure that will premiere on RTÉjr on Christmas Eve.

Titled Adam Saves Christmas, Tubridy will also appear in the special voicing Santa.
