The airline has revealed when this change will take effect.
Aer Lingus has confirmed that it will be discontinuing its flight offerings between Cork and the Dutch capital of Amsterdam.
In a statement to JOE, the airline said that this change will take effect from St. Patrick’s Day of next year.
Currently, Aer Lingus offers one or two Cork-Amsterdam flights each day between Sunday and Friday.
It has operated the route for 26 years.
As for its reasons for scrapping the service, the airline cited “changing travel demands”.
You can read its statement in full right here:
“Aer Lingus services between Cork and Amsterdam will be discontinued from March 17th. This decision was made after a thorough review of our route network and in response to changing travel demands.
“Aer Lingus remains deeply committed to Cork and our valued customers in the south of Ireland.
“In line with this commitment, we have launched two new summer routes from Cork Airport to Bilbao and Bordeaux.”
Direct connectivity between Cork and Amsterdam will be maintained, however, through KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
KLM operate twice-daily services from Cork to the capital of the Netherlands.
In a statement to JOE, Cork Airport said: “Aer Lingus has notified Cork Airport that they have taken the commercial decision to cease operating its Cork – Amsterdam Schiphol service in late March 2025.
“We would like to thank Aer Lingus for their 26 years of continual service on this route.
“Meanwhile, direct connectivity with Amsterdam Schiphol will be maintained with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines offering twice-daily services to Amsterdam, with the ability to connect onwards to over 150 destinations.”
