Man dies following aircraft crash in Clare

Tragic news.

A man has died following an aircraft crash that took place in Clare on Sunday, 18 September.

Gardaí and multiple local emergency services attended the scene in Miltown Malbay on Sunday afternoon, where the man, who had been piloting the aircraft, was pronounced as deceased.

It is understood the man, who has yet to be named, was flying a motor-propelled, fixed-wing ‘microlight’ glider.

The scene was preserved in order for a technical examination to be conducted.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has been informed and is expected to send officials to assess the incident on Monday.

Investigations are ongoing.
