This could be a huge deal for the capital.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) are believed to be developing a plan for an ‘airport style city’ in the vicinity of Dublin Airport that would cost €1billion and take 15 years to build.

According to the Sunday Business Post (€), the DAA’s plan would involve the construction of a 3.2 million square foot ‘airport style city’ that would be three times the size of Dundrum Town Centre and would be one of the largest projects ever undertaken in this country.

The ‘city’ the project speaks of would be called ‘Dublin Airport Central’ and is envisaged as a high-tech airport city which would appeal to domestic and multinational tenants and residents alike.

A statement from the DAA in response to the claims made in the Sunday Business Post article read: “Since 2013 the DAA intended to redevelop a 70 acre site at the airport over a 25-30 year time frame and any decision to proceed will be dependent on a number of planning and commercial issues.”
