The comedian said he’s “learned his lesson” following a series of allegations involving his alleged misconduct.

Al Porter has made his first public appearance since a number of allegations regarding his inappropriate behaviour were made against him in December 2017.

The Tallaght-native attended fellow comedian David McSavage’s show at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Thursday night.

This was his first public appearance since he decided he was stepping down from Today FM, quoting needed personal time as the reason why.

McSavage spoke to The Sun about his recent appearance at his show. The comedian defended Porter’s honour claiming he was “no Harvey Weinstein or Kevin Spacey.”

“Al Porter is no Harvey Weinstein or Kevin Spacey and he has been punished and gone through enough shit.

“We all have to explore our sexuality when we are young. How can we know a boundary until we’ve crossed it.”

At the show, David called upon Porter to stand up in front of the show’s audience and ask if he had learned his lesson. Porter allegedly stood up and said ”yes”.

However, McSavage didn’t stop there; he went on to slag the comedian about letting fame get to his head – lightening the mood somewhat in front of a bemused crowd.

Just last month, Dan Healy, Head of 2FM mentioned that he believed Al could be back on the airwaves in the future given his flair for broadcasting.

“Al is a very talented guy, and we haven’t seen how the next few months will settle with Al.”

“The reality is he is a guy who oozes talent.”

Back in November and December of 2017, a series of allegations claiming that comedian Al Porter had allegedly been involved in a number of situations involving sexual misconduct came to light.

The comedian “categorically denied” the allegations against him.
