Both supermarkets are asking customers to return the product to the store in which it was purchased.

A selection of Aldi and Tesco’s branded products have been recalled this week due to the fact that they may contain glass fragments.

World Wise Foods issued the recall for the stores’ branded light and dark soy sauce on Wednesday.

Due to a manufacturing error, the soy sauces may contain small fragments of glass.

According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), both Aldi and Tesco have issued in-store notices requesting those who have bought the compromised products to return them to the store.

Five products in total have been affected by the recall:

  • Asia Specialities (Aldi) Light Soy Sauce 150ml
  • Asia Specialities (Aldi) Dark Soy Sauce 150ml
  • Tesco Light Soy Sauce 150ml
  • Tesco Dark Soy Sauce 150ml
  • Tesco Reduced Salt Soy Sauce 150ml

The FSAI posted a list of the batches affected, urging customers to return it to the store for a full refund.

An Aldi spokesperson said of the recalls: “We have recalled this product as a precaution as there is a possibility that the packaging is damaged and small pieces of the packaging could enter the product.

“Customers should return the product to their nearest store where they will receive a full refund.”
