Fuel, energy, and transport inflation was cited as a key factor in the increase.

An Post have announced that the cost of their stamps are set to increase by 15 cent.

The new prices came into effect on Tuesday morning (1 March).

A standard national stamp now costs €1.25, up from €1.10.

The standard international stamp has also gone up in price, now costing €2.20, up from €2.

This increase is the second such price hike in the past year.

Prices went up by 10 cent in May of 2021 for the first time in four years.

The continued increase in prices has seen the cost of an international letter increase by 50 cent since last May.

Transport, fuel, and energy inflation were cited as key factors in the increase in price.

“While these increases are essential to cover rising costs, and ensure service continuity on a par with the very best in Europe, we will mitigate the impact on SMEs by increasing discounts available to them, while freezing the price of ten-stamp booklet for consumers and offering regular price promotions,” An Post CEO David McRedmond said.

A booklet of 10 national stamps remains the same price, and can be purchased for €11 both in post offices and online.

An Post recently announced that they would be collaborating with Late Late Toy Show legend Adam King to fundraise money for children’s charities across Ireland.

More than 2.5 million postcards carrying either the message ‘Barróg Duitse’ or ‘A Hug for You’ are available in post offices nationwide.

The postcards are free, and for every postcard sent, An Post will make a donation to Temple Street Hospital (Children’s Health Foundation) and Cork University Hospital Charity.

An Post is hoping to send 100,000 hugs worldwide by St. Patrick’s Day.

If you’re planning on sending any letters or packages around the world, here are the latest dates of posting to ensure delivery before St. Patrick’s Day:

  • Australia, India, etc: Tuesday, 1 March
  • United States and Canada: Monday, 7 March
  • Europe: Friday, 11 March
  • Ireland: Tuesday, 15 March
