‘Apollo House occupants must vacate the premises… in January’ says judge

A judge in the High Court has ruled that the occupants of Apollo House must vacate the building the property.

However, he delayed the ruling until after Christmas.

The injunction directing a group of homeless people and activists to leave Apollo House, on Tara Street, in Dublin by midday on 11 January.

Singers Glen Hansard and Damien Dempsey, Fr. Peter McVerry, Mattress Mick and director Jim Sheridan are among those who have supported the homeless people since the building was taken over last Thursday.

The verdict, according to The Irish Times, was delivered by Mr. Justice Paul Gilligan at 4pm.

On Tuesday afternoon, a group of musicians – including Hansard, Kodaline, Hozier and Christy Dignam – staged a sing-song at the site as people turned out in support of the Home Sweet Home movement.
