Investigations underway following armed robbery in Roscommon bank

The incident happened on Friday afternoon.

A major Garda operation is under way in County Roscommon after armed raiders carried out a robbery at a Bank of Ireland in Strokestown, escaping with a sum of cash.

The incident occurred on the 20 April 2018 at approximately 3pm.

The four masked men entered the Bank of Ireland on Main Street in the town on Friday afternoon with what are believed to have been a handgun and iron bars.

They stole an amount of cash and fled in a black Audi in the direction of Elphin Road.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
