Army bomb squad called in over suspect device found in North Dublin

The army bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion in Poppintree, Dublin last night (19 February)

Gardaí received reports of a suspect device at approximately 9pm on Wednesday evening in the garden of a house in Poppintree, Dublin.

The area was cordoned off and the Army EOD team arrived at the scene.

A number of houses were evacuated and a controlled explosion took place. The device was not viable.

The incident came to an end at approximately 3am and investigations are ongoing.
