An arrest has been made after a 16-year-old girl died following a hit and run incident in Navan.
The collision occurred on the Slane Road around 8.20pm yesterday evening, Saturday, February 21.
The girl was taken from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda where she was later pronounced dead.
Her passing marks the fourth death on Irish roads yesterday.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the investigation and a car has been seized by Gardaí.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 8:00pm and 8:45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
