Apparently the government were alerted to it when a local newspaper brought it to their attention, and the artists have since had to apologise to both company who hired them and the government, both of whom were clearly hopping mad about the whole thing. Mogomotsi Mogodiri, a spokesman for the ministry of arts and culture, has said the government has accepted their apology, but deemed it a 'senseless prank' according to Yahoo News.
The artists have been now tasked with removing the rabbit from his ear, but they're not sure how long it will take before the statue is restored to it's non-rabbited state.
