It's hard not to feel sympathy for Terence Flanagan

Tony Cuddihy

It’s hard not to feel sympathy for Terence Flanagan.

Oh dear.

RTÉ presenter Mary Wilson interviewed Renua Ireland TD Terence Flanagan on Drivetime last night, and it was an excruciating experience.

Flanagan suffered a complete mental block as a sympathetic Wilson tried to help him through questions about the new party’s policies.

From the moment Wilson tackled him on the reasons why health and education policies had not been discussed as Renua Ireland made its debut, Flanagan was lost, straining to keep up and failing to finish his sentences.

When he couldn’t answer coherently on the question of taxation, Wilson wound things up quickly.
