Great news for those looking into working in Australia under the "Working Holiday Programme", as the age limit has been increased by a full five years.
Irish people originally could only enrol in the programme up until the age of 30, but Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Patrick O'Donovan has now announced that a reciprocal deal has been struck that will allow people to apply until the age of 35.
The minimum age for the visa is still 18.
The programme allows those who successfully apply to work in Australia for up to two years. Technically, those who go down under using the visa are allowed to work for any one employer for a maximum of six months.
Thousands of Irish people go to work in Australia each year, with the Irish Times reporting that as many as 8,653 visas were issued under the programme in 2017.
