Bang Bang, the hugely popular independent café in the Dublin neighbourhood of Phibsborough, has announced it is changing ownership.
Named after the famous Dublin street character, whose real name was Thomas Dudley, the coffee shop was opened in late 2015 by brother and sister Daniel and Grace Lambert.
Daniel, also well-known for being Bohemian FC's Chief Commercial Officer and hip-hop trio Kneecap's band manager, left Bang Bang in 2020, with Grace carrying on.
In a statement posted to the café's social media on Friday, however, it was revealed that the establishment will be "changing hands for the first time".
"After 10 years of running something we are beyond proud of, and now with two children and a need to spend more time with them, Grace has decided to move on," the statement reads.
"It's a strangely emotional decision. We've made so many friends and had the best experiences.
"We thought long about what to do, who would take on what we think is a special place for a special community.
"Our long-time friend and local resident, Cillian, will be the new owner from January. He is a brilliant person and shares the same values and ethos.
"Please support him and the shop in 2026 and beyond.
"Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us for the past 10 years. We have loved every minute. We will miss it."
Accompanying the social media post were several photos, highlighting Bang Bang's humble beginnings and celebrating some of its biggest moments over the past decade.
This includes the various social campaigns the coffee shop has become involved with, as well as many of its famous customers, such as members of the bands Fontaines D.C and Kneecap, Bobby Vylan, Greta Thunberg and Louis Theroux.
Daniel Lambert also met his future partner, acclaimed musician Radie Peat, when she was a café customer.
Sunday, 22 December, will be Grace's last day in charge of Bang Bang.
The establishment will reopen on Thursday, 8 January, "in new Cillian hands".
