Wednesday's highest temperatures range from 17C in the northwest to 23C in the southeast, with light west to southwest breezes.

Heading into Thursday and Friday, there is a mainly dry start with clear spells, followed by scattered showers spreading from the northwest and high temperatures reaching 15C to 21C.

The weekend will begin mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells alongside isolated light showers and highs of 16C to 21C, before small outbreaks of rain spread west.

The main uncertainty surrounds Monday, when that rain is expected to spread.

Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly echoed the outlook, writing: "Friday and Saturday will see more cloud but still sunny spells and scattered showers with highest rainfall amounts in Northwest. Main risk of rain Sunday is in South later in day but still uncertain." Planners are being urged to keep an eye on updates before making outdoor plans.
