“This is outrageous and appalling. That business should be shut down immediately.”
The LVA has called for an establishment to be closed down, after footage emerged that appeared to show a breach of the current Covid guidelines.
It is believed the incident took place in the Berlin Bar in Dublin, and the LVA has claimed that the establishment “is not a pub and does not hold a pub licence”.
“This is outrageous and appalling. That business should be shut down immediately. It is not a pub and does not hold a pub licence. Clear need for inspections across the hospitality sector to ensure compliance with guidelines and licensing conditions.”
Clarifying the above point, the LVA said: “They don’t have a pub licence. Just as restaurants don’t have pub licences, hotel bars don’t have pub licenses etc.”
Simon Harris also had his say on the incident, describing it as “shameful”.
He said: “A right kick in the gut and middle finger to everyone in our country who has worked so hard and sacrificed so much, to everyone who has lost a loved one or been sick with Covid-19, to every frontline worker and to every responsible business owner who have suffered so much.”
