Number one remains the same for the third year in a row.

Air New Zealand cemented its reputation as one of the leading airlines in the world by once again finishing in first place in a list of the world’s top ten airlines, according to Airlineratings.com.

The airline has developed something of a reputation for some of its impressive PR campaigns in recent years, but it’s obviously not the only it’s doing right and this latest award is a testament to that.

There was no sign of any Irish airline in the top ten, with the likes of Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia and Atlantic and Etihad Airways all featuring in a list that requires a seven-star safety rating and demonstration of leadership in innovation for passenger comfort.

The seven-star rating system was developed by AirlineRatings.com after two years of evaluation and consultation with the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

A separate award for best first class went to Singapore Airlines, while Virgin Australia claimed best business class, Norwegian was deemed to be the best low-fare carrier in Europe and the best in-flight entertainment went to Emirates for the second year running.

You can see the winners of each individual award here and the ranking of the top ten airlines in the world below.
