Movies on TV

This evening’s options aren’t the best you’ll ever see.

Though there are one or two glowing exceptions…

It’s Monday again, folks. The start of what is sure to be another delightfully gruelling week until we can reach the glistening shore of… next weekend. In order to pass the time, why not watch some movies on TV?

Irene’s Ghost – Sky Documentaries – 9pm

Haunting and sad movie by Ian Cunningham, a film maker who sets out to document the life of a mother he never knew.

The Program – TG4 – 9.30pm

Chris O’Dowd stars as Irish investigative journalist David Walsh in a true-story that tells of how seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong was found to be a doper.

R.I.P.D – Sky One – 10.30pm

A cop is murdered in the line of duty by his crooked partner, and ends up recruited by a supernatural police force.

Teaming up with a Wild West lawman, he is sent back to Earth to prevent ghosts from causing chaos and uncovers a plot to overrun the land of the living with evil spirits. Fantasy adventure starring the always charming Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges.

Resident Evil: Extinction – Horror Channel – 10.50pm

The zombies are back again, Milla Jovovich has to deal with it again, and this time the company who created the zombies are about to make things way worse.

Frost/Nixon – Sky Atlantic – 11.20pm

A political “thriller” where all of the thrills come from tension, sharp dialogue, and two masterful performances from Michael Sheen, and Frank Langella. You’ll have to stay up late to catch it though.

Life – Sky Comedy – 11.55pm

Two men receive life sentences for a crime they did not commit. Once behind bars, their situation becomes even more dire when they discover petty differences can easily be magnified into reasons for all-out war.

Comedy, starring Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Ned Beatty, Rick James, Bernie Mac, Bokeem Woodbine and Obba Babatunde.
