2017 was a fine year on YouTube for Conor McGregor tributes, tunes as Gaeilge and bats invading kitchens in Kerry.
After the
biggest trends on Twitter were unveiled on Tuesday (6th December), YouTube has announced their own annual list of the most popular videos in Ireland with YouTube Rewind 2017, and it looks like we've been completely hooked on Irish music.
The most-watched video of 2017 was given over to the man who dominated headlines all year, UFC fighter Conor McGregor, after a short tribute song was written by a 24-year-old Kildare teacher ahead of his fight with Floyd Mayweather in August. Written and performed by Mick Konstantin, the track proved to be so popular that the original upload made it onto the list too, in 6th place.
Also raking up the views were Finbar Furey and Christy Dignam with their cover of 'Green Fields of France' on the Late Late Show,
that Kerry family who calmly went about removing a bat from their kitchen and Coláiste Lurgan latest cover as Gaeilge after they reworked the Luis Fonsi smash-hit 'Despacito' into 'I Do Dhiaidh Chomh'.
