Man arrested in connection with body discovered in Cork

A young man has been arrested by Gardaí investigating the discovery of a body of a man in Cork.

The remains of the man, believed to be in his 60s, were found at a house in the Galway’s Lane area of Douglas on Monday morning.

The alarm was raised shortly after 8am. It’s believed that the door of the apartment the man was discovered in looked like it has been broken into.

The circumstances surrounding the death are believed to be suspicious, according to Gardaí.

One man in his twenties was arrested on Monday afternoon in Cork and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Togher Garda Station.

The scene has since been sealed off and persevered for technical examination and the body remains at scene. The State Pathologist has been informed and a post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

A Garda forensics team are carrying out an examination at the scene.
