Boil Water notice in place for Westmeath

The boil water notice affects around 1,444 people.

A boil water notice remains in place for all people that use the Castlepollard water supply in Westmeath.

The areas affected are Ballymanus, Hilltown, Slieveboy, Loughpark, Fore, Martinstown, Glenidan, Cummerstown, Collinstown, Ranahan and surrounding areas.

The notice was originally issued on 31 December as a precaution, following a mechanical failure at the treatment plant. The notice is still in place.

The boil water notice affects around 1,444 people.

Irish Water said: “The Boil Water Notice has been put in place as a precaution following a mechanical failure at the water treatment plant that resulted in the disinfection process being compromised.

“Irish Water’s drinking water compliance and operational experts are working with colleagues in Westmeath County Council to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

Irish Water and Westmeath County Council said they are working to resolve the issue.

In the meantime, all customers of this supply are advised to boil water before use until further notice.
