The Irish Defence Forces have reported that the Army Bomb Disposal Team was deployed last night to deal with an explosive device in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.
A tweet from the IDF described the bomb as a "viable improvised explosive device". The team worked to render the explosive device safe across last night and this morning.
Safety was declared shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, according to the tweet from the IDF.

The material will now be forensically examined by Gardaí as part of their investigation.
