The saga continues.
For the third time in succession, the Dáil have failed to elect a Taoiseach, with both Enda Kenny and Michéal Martin having had their nominations rejected.
While 14 Independent TDs abstained from voting, Enda Kenny received 77 votes against his nomination, with just 52 voting for it. Meanwhile, Michéal Martin’s nomination for the top seat at Leinster House was defeated by 91 to 43 votes.
