It has been reported that the boy was known to the woman.
A teenage boy has been arrested following the violent death of a woman in Offaly, according to reports.
In a statement on Friday afternoon, a Garda spokesperson said officers were currently at the scene of a “violent incident” at a residential property in a rural area outside of Tullamore.
“A male has been arrested. No further details being provided at this time,” the spokesperson added.
“Investigations are at an early stage and An Garda Síochána will not be providing any further details at this time.”

Multiple outlets have since reported that a woman died in the incident, after being attacked in her home and sustaining serious injuries.
The outlets have also stated that a teenage boy known to woman has been arrested.
An Garda Síochána have said they are aware that images from the incident are circulating on social media and messaging apps.
A spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána is appealing to any person who receives these images not to share the content.”
