Brendan O’Carroll proves once again what an absolute gentleman he is

What a gesture

Joe Harrington

The man is a hero.

Brendan O’Carroll has proved time and time again that’s he’s a generous man, but his latest gesture is remarkably kind.

The Mrs Brown’s Boys creator served up 2,750 hot dinners to less well-off families in the lead up to Christmas last year, and his efforts have been recognised.

Brendan’s help in stopping kids and families go hungry has seen him win a National Philanthropist of the Year Award.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the comedian said: “People aren’t looking for handouts, people aren’t looking for anything for free. They’re just looking for a leg up.

“The first year we did it, we got onto Vincent De Paul and and we did 500 dinners – dinner for seven through Dunnes Stores.

“The people get a credit card so they get the shopping experience as well. It’s not a question of just delivering it to their house.

“And last year we managed to do 2,750 so it’s getting more and more. And we’ll keep doing that for as long as we possibly can.”

What a kind and selfless thing to do. Legend.
