The company says the new bar “retains the creamy taste” customers expect.

Cadbury Ireland has revealed the release of the Cadbury Plant bar, its first-ever vegan chocolate bar and a plant-based alternative to the confectionery company’s popular Dairy Milk bar.

It will debut in two flavours – smooth chocolate and smooth chocolate with salted caramel pieces.

The new bar was developed over two years at Mondelez International’s Global Centre of Excellence for Chocolate Research and Development in Bournville.

Cadbury Ireland says the bar “retains the creamy taste” customers expect from the brand by replacing the milk with almond paste.

According to the company, almond paste provides a similar taste and texture to milk ingredients while offering a hint of nuttiness.

The new plant bar range carries the Vegan Trademark as registered by the Vegan Society and is also wrapped in 100% plant-based packaging using certified bio-sourced plastics made from renewable sources.

“We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumours swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar in Ireland are true,” Cadbury Brand Manager Eileen Leahy said.

“Our ambition has always been to provide a wide range of tasty products and want to offer more choice to more consumers and the new Plant Bar gives us something different, but equally delicious.’’

The new Cadbury Plant Bar is now available in Supervalu and Dunnes Stores stores nationwide and will be available in Tesco stores nationwide in March 2022.
