Cavan woman claims €30,000 scratch card prize for the second time in months

Some folks have all the luck.

Winning a five-figure sum from a National Lottery scratch card is something that happens only to a small and fortunate group of people; winning a five-figure sum twice, in the space of less than a year, is practically unheard of.

One lucky Cavan mother-to-be has done just that, however, claiming €30,000 on the €3 National Lottery All Cash Tripler scratch card this week after doing likewise on the same game in May of last year.

Nikkol O’Reilly (24), from Mountnugent in Cavan, says she is the talk of the town at the moment after pocketing the top prize again only months after doing so the first time.

“I think I’m the talk of the town at the moment!” O’Reilly said. Nobody believes I could be this lucky.”

Although she hails from Mountnugent in Cavan, both of Nikkol’s winning scratch cards have been purchased at the Post Office in Oldcastle in Meath.

“Every Friday, I go into town to pay some bills and I occasionally treat myself to a scratch card,” she added.

“After my last scratch card win, I was told not to buy the same scratch card again because there is no way Oldcastle could be lucky enough to have yet another win!”

National Lottery prize winners from Laois and Galway also claimed a combined €65,000 in scratch card prizes.

A lucky Laois lady pocketed €40,000 after she bought a winning €10 Money Multiplier 40 X scratch card at Brown’s Grocers in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

A Galway man, meanwhile, says he will clear off all of his loans and upgrade his car after he scratched up a €25,000 win on a €10 All Cash Spectacular scratch card. The winning ticket was purchased at Newsweek Newsagency in the Westside Shopping Centre in Galway.

If any of the winners happened to be doing 'Dry January', there'll be plenty of extra reasons to celebrate this weekend.
