They agree on this one, but he still thinks the system needs work.
You may have heard, but Ireland is about to be battered by yet another storm on Tuesday night, with Met Éireann seeing fit to
issue a status orange weather warning for the entire country.
Storm Georgina is the fourth storm with a name attached to it to hit Ireland in the last month after Dylan, Eleanor and Fionn, although Met Éireann’s naming of the last one
didn’t go down well with a fellow meteorologist in Channel 4.
Last week, Liam Dutton, a weatherman on Channel 4, expressed bemusement at the decision to name Storm Fionn by Met Éireann, insisting that there was a problem with the naming system and the joint initiative between Met Éireann and the Met Office in the UK.

Taking to Twitter, Dutton said: #StormFionn that has been named by @MetEireann shouldn’t have been named. It needs no more than a standard weather warning. It’s not even a low pressure with a storm centre, just a squeeze in the isobars. What next? Naming raindrops? It’s ridiculous!”

Perhaps mindful of the fact that people would be interested in his views on Storm Georgina in light of his comments causing a small furore last week, Dutton acknowledged that Met Éireann had good reason to name this storm, although he maintained the view that joint criteria needs to be worked out.

You heard the man. Best batten down those hatches.
