The news was announced on Friday shortly after 4pm.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Ana Kriegel.
Gardaí confirmed the news that two juvenile males had been arrested in connection with the schoolgirl’s death earlier this week. Both teenagers were detained in separate Dublin Garda stations where they have been questioned since Wednesday.
It’s believed that Kriegel was beaten to death.
Anastasia – or Ana as she was known to friends – was found dead in a derelict farmhouse off the Clonee Road near Lucan last week. She had been reported missing for two days.
She had last been seen at St. Catherine’s Park at 5.30pm on Monday 14 May.
The second boy has been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
