Child suffers serious injuries after being hit by mini-bus in Galway

The incident took place on Friday afternoon.

A child is in hospital following a road traffic collision in Galway on Friday, 8 April.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident at Dunlo Quay, near the L4602 in Ballinasloe on Friday afternoon.

The collision took place at approximately 12.10pm, involving a mini-bus and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a female child, was later taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinsloe for treatment.

Her injuries have been described as serious.

No other injuries were reported in relation to the collision.

At the time of writing on late Friday afternoon, the road at Dunlo Quay has been closed off.

Local diversions have been put in place as Gardaí schedule a forensic collision examination.

Investigating authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to make contact.

Any road users who were travelling near the Dunlo roundabout and the L4602 between 12.05pm and 12.20pm on Friday and who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
