Nine million cigarettes were seized at Dublin Port on Friday (13 May), with an estimated value of €6.8 million.
The discovery was made as a result of routine profiling, and with the assistance of a mobile X-Ray scanner and Waffle, the detector dog.
The consignment of illegal cigarettes branded "Lambert & Butler" represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5.3 million.
Investigations are ongoing.
Revenue is asking businesses or members of the public to share any information they may have regarding smuggling.
