CMAT brought Irish language to her SNL UK musical guest debut.

The Meath woman was the first musical guest of the new SNL UK season, with Wicked actor Jeff Goldblum hosting the live show.

CMAT performed her 2025 album title track, Euro-Country, a song about the fallout of the 2008 recession which begins with over 40 seconds of the Irish.

Her performance, which also included her 2023 song Stay For Something, was met with a lot of online praise from viewers.

"Genuinely couldn’t think of anyone better to be on this show, CMAT is incredible," said one SNL viewer.

Commenting on the YouTube video of her performance, another said: "Well, just discovered them and they're playing near me in LA on the 23rd...and I'm goin!"

On X, one user described her Irish singing as 'cinema'.

The UK spin-off of the highly successful US show, which debuted in 1975, premiered earlier this year, featuring a different celebrity host and musical guest each week.

Season one of the show also had strong Irish features, including Nicola Coughlan, Jamie Dornan and Graham Norton.
