Commuters be warned, there will be major disruptions to train services in and out of Heuston Station this morning

Irish Rail have alerted passengers that there will be major disruption to services in and out of Heuston Station after Gardai requested the closure of line between Sallins and Newbride overnight.

Irish Rail have alerted passengers that there will be major disruption to services in and out of Heuston Station after Gardai requested the closure of line between Sallins and Newbride overnight.

Irish Rail released a statement in the early hours of this morning announcing that the Gardai had requested the closure following a fatality on the line overnight and that commuter services will operate between Sallins & Hueston only.

A number of intercity services have also been cancelled and the line is not expected to reopen until after morning peak.

The Irish Rail statement in full reads as follows:

“Major Disruption to services in and out of Heuston this morning due to line closure between Sallins and Newbride at request of Gardai because of a fatality on the line overnight.

“Commuter services will operate between Sallins & Hueston only.

“There will be NO COMMUTER SERVICE between Portlaoise, Portarlington, Monastervin, and Kildare & Newbridge to Heuston this morning.

“Intercity services to and from Galway, Cork, Limerick, Westport and Kerry will terminate at Kildare with road transfers between Kildare and Heuston. 06:30 Carlow to Heuston service is cancelled and all other Waterford services will terminate at Athy with road transfers to and from Heuston.

“The line is not expected to reopen until after the morning peak.

“Iarnrod Eireann apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
