1,283 new Covid-19 cases confirmed, three further deaths

The latest figures have been released.

1,283 new cases of have been confirmed, as well as three further deaths.

There has now been a total of 1,852 Covid-related deaths in the Republic of Ireland.

Each of the three deaths reported today occurred this month.

408 of Sunday’s cases are in Dublin, while 156 are in Cork, 88 in Kildare, 80 in Meath and 55 in Limerick.

The remaining 496 cases are spread across 21 counties.

The median age is 31 years old, while 68% of today’s cases are under 45 years of age.

277 people are currently in hospital with Covid across the country, while 33 are in the ICU.

These figures have been released after Simon Harris confirmed that the country would see new safety restrictions announced on Monday.

He said: “Tomorrow we will have to bring in more restrictions. Level 3 has not worked, in terms of getting the virus to where it needs to get to.”

Earlier on Sunday, it was confirmed that 1,012 individuals in Northern Ireland have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. Sadly, five deaths were also reported within this period.
